Well, it took nearly an hour of me and my Dad figuring out how to brace a nut tucked away on top of the radiator support where we could barely access it, but the V50 is now ready to take on what the Forest Service labels as “high clearance” roads.
Long story short about the installation is that sometimes a box end wrench is exactly what you need, and I am terrible at realizing when that is the case.

Looking good!

Doesn’t that technically lower your clearance?

Your skid plate is christian?

I’ve heard horror stories about the fasteners included with those skid plates, so you aren't alone! I always wanted one, especially when I was lowered, but never pulled the trigger. Nice peace of mind!

I don’t think it sits any lower than the original plastic splash guard. In fact, Volvo makes a metal skid plate for P1 cars , if you can still buy it.

Nice, I’ve considered one for my S60, just because it seems nicer than the plastic splash guard, and for access for oil changes. I haven’t been doing my own changes though, so dropping $200 seemed like overkill.

There is a nut on a Dana 30 (XJ front axle) that requires a crows foot 17mm. It seems some tools you only need them once.

Is that brand name pronounced “I peed” ?

Installing my skid plate was surprisingly complex. Good job, now you need to find some good forest service roads!

I banged the heck out of it already, so I’m very glad I got it.

Just got back from a backpacking trip that involved 12 miles of “high clearance” Forest Service roads, and the skid plate got pretty beat up. Very glad I installed it before this trip.
